The fundamental importance of fish and shellfish farming in ensuring safe and controlled food for the global, European, and Italian population is reiterated by international organizations on every occasion.
The development of aquaculture must take place in harmony with the need to safeguard the environment, as well as the socio-economic conditions of the operators and communities where the farms are located.
A range of tools is available, from the establishment of areas dedicated to aquaculture to financial support for the conversion of techniques and equipment, as well as the introduction of product labeling that better protects both consumers and national and European products, including in out-of-home consumption.
Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests (MASAF) and sector associations, with the support of renowned independent experts, will discuss the current state of implementation of available tools and the potential development of new ones.
