The European flat oyster (Ostrea edulis) is a strategic resource for Adriatic aquaculture due to its commercial, nutritional and ecological value. Its revival today requires an integrated approach combining technological innovation, animal health and environmental sustainability.

The Interreg Italy–Croatia MARINET Project workshop offers a technical and scientific exchange on the opportunities and challenges of sustainable flat oyster farming in the context of Adriatic mariculture. The meeting will open with a presentation on Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) approaches developed within the project, followed by contributions on production development, health and reproductive aspects, and strategies to improve product shelf life.

The session will conclude with a SWOT analysis and a questionnaire, aimed at collecting inputs to define shared guidelines and strengthen dialogue between research and industry stakeholders.
