Biography
Ha oltre 30 anni di esperienza su tematiche di ricerca nell’ambito della pesca e dell’acquacoltura. Ha partecipato o ha coordinato numerosi programmi di ricerca nazionali ed Europei, ed ha pubblicato più di 50 articoli scientifici.
È stato membro di numerosi comitati scientifici e gruppi di lavoro del Ministero delle Politiche Agricole, Alimentari e Forestali, della Commissione Europea, della FAO e di altri organismi nazionali ed internazionali. Ha presieduto fino al 2021 l’Expert Group for Technical advice on the Organic Production (EGTOP) della Commissione Europea.

The FutureEUAqua project: Internet of Things for healthy fish and environment
Abstract
The fish farming industry needs instruments that can monitor in real time fish health and welfare objectively, without interfering with the daily management.
This is why FutureEUAqua project is committed to exploit the potential of IoT to address the challenges of a sustainable and resilient aquaculture system that ensures profitability, maintains healthy aquatic ecosystems and strengthens capacity for adaptation to climate change.
To this purples, COISPA researchers experimented a network of wireless electronic sensors to enable accurate fine-scale measurements of environmental conditions, fish health, welfare and habitat use, facilitating predictive modelling and data-driven aquaculture, where knowledge informs tailored decisions.
