Chiara Petrioli is Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at University of Rome La Sapienza, Founder and Director WSense Srl.
She is among the most cited international researchers in the field of computer science and engineering and has received several innovation awards -NT100 top social global techs changing our lives 2016; 100 women against the stereotype in STEM 2016; Inspiring Fifty Italy 2018; N2Women 2019 Stars in Computer Communications and Networking; Wired Italy fifty women who have made and are making the history of Computer Science; #EUWomen4Future,100 women who are changing the world, Repubblica D 2021. Farm monitoring with underwater IoT networks and wearable sensors: SEASTAR

Abstract
EMFF SEASTAR project has seen Wsense, Leroy Seafood Group and University of Bergen address the lack of full digitalization in the aquaculture sector, by exploiting innovative Internet of Underwater Things Technologies and integrating them with last-generation miniaturized wearable sensors to be placed on each fish. The resulting system is a completely innovative underwater infrastructure that, for the first time, will allow fish farmers to monitor the health of each fish remotely, in real time, and to gather relevant data for accurate risk assessment and forecasting. In addition, the project has developed market-ready underwater wireless telemetry systems used for both environmental and structural monitoring.
