Fish feed sustainability : the results of the Ager2-SuSHIN project in pills

Abstract
It is a shared opinion that future generation feeds for aquaculture will combine conventional proteins with new or under-used feed proteins, compliant with the principles of the circular bioeconomy and / or from the lowest trophic levels. In this direction, the SuSHIN project brings promising results on the use of meals made from arthropods, poultry slaughterhouse by-products and nutraceutical levels of some microbial biomasses that could allow to achieve a sustainable protein transition of aquaeeds for the main fish species cultured in Mediterranean Europe, respecting the environment while ensuring high quality and safety of fish products for the consumer.
